Welcome to Our Website!

Hello everyone, my name is Micah James Diffee. I am a very special little boy with a lot of family and friends that love me. My parents created Team Micah in 2006 to take part in the White Rock Marathon in Dallas, Texas. All proceeds from TEAM MICAH go directly to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. This is the hospital that I go to for my legs. You see, I was born with CRS (Caudal Regression Syndrome) and I am missing the lumbar section of my spine. That being said, I can not move my legs and feet but I can feel them. No worries, nothing slows me down. I love gymnastics, racing in my racing wheelchair, snow skiing (I skied a black this year) and riding 4-wheelers. My new found love is Tennis. Anyway, when I was born my feet were also clubbed and all tucked under my bottom. The doctors at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital put cast on my legs for a couple of months and now they are all straight. I also had special braces I wore during the day on my feet called AFO's for three years. They helped keep my feet flat since I can't stand or walk. Without the work they did on my legs I would have never even been able to sit in a chair on my bottom. In the fall of 2006 Texas Scottish Rites Hospital helped my family get me a sit down wheelchair. Now I can go everywhere on my own. It has given me so much independence and freedom. My chair is bright yellow and has wheels on the front that light up when they roll…just like all the kids’ shoes do when they run!

Ok, back to the reason for Team Micah. My family is so grateful for all the things Texas Scottish Rites Hospital has done for me that they would like to give back. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children does not (and never has) charged a single penny for their services. Anyone who would like to join Team Micah is welcome to do so. You can join in many different ways. You can run (or walk) in the Marathon or Half Marathon, join a 5-Man Relay Team, volunteer to fundraise with us for TSRH or volunteer to help out at the White Rock Marathon. Our goal when we started in 2006 was $5,000 in donations to TSRH. We reached our goal and we kept on running. In 2007 we set our goal at $10,000 in donations to TSRH and WE DID IT! We raised more than $11,000 in 2008. Last year, 2009, was our biggest year so far. We had 41 runners for Team Micah and raised almost $15,000. This year, we are raising the bar…2010 is going to be BIG! Our goal is 100+ runners and $20,000. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and we hope you consider joining TEAM MICAH or making a donation to the wonderful hospital that does so much for so many deserving children. Have a blessed day!
